Leyton Area Guide & Local Information: Just north of and adjacent to Stratford, Leyton is closely affiliated with the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which hosted the 2012 Olympic Games. Leyton is mainly a residential area comprising modern housing estates and older terraced houses built between 1870 and 1910.
The Leyton area benefited greatly from the legacy of the 2012 Olympic games, and combined with further local government investment, the area thrives. Leyton Jubilee Park was transformed and has seen other improvements since. It offers much to activity and nature lovers of all ages.
There are woodlands to enjoy, outdoor gym facilities and even a pirate ship to explore. Hackney Marshes and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park are also close at hand. The latter has much to offer leisure seekers and the sports, cycling and swimming minded. Further east, you will find neighbouring Leytonstone and the open spaces of Wanstead Flats.
